First Green Bank honored by ULI Central Florida

The sustainable bank branch was chosen as a commercial trendsetter

ULI Central Florida’s annual Emerging Trends in Real Estate conference is always an exciting event and this year’s was no exception. Keynote speaker Jeffery Korzenik, Chief Investment Strategist of Fifth Third Bank, revealed important economic trends and described how the tech sector of the economy will influence growth in the coming year.

This year I chaired the 2016 Trendsetter awards which recognize achievements of excellence in land use practice. I was thrilled to have so many good contenders to evaluate – the award submittals were judged in three categories:  technology, commerce, and community. The Commercial  Trendsetter finalist was the LEED Gold Certified First Green Bank in Winter Park, FL.  First Green has created a successful financial model with what founder Ken LaRoe calls a “triple bottom line – doing the right thing for the planet, people, and shareholders.”
