Hello Kitty Theme Park opens in China

Asia’s largest Hello Kitty attraction garners media attention

The Hello Kitty Theme Park and Castle Hotel projects have been a rewarding design experience. Our client, a Shanghai developer with a vision for the small rural bamboo mountain community Anji, created a sophisticated market analysis and business plan for developing the area. Now in 2015, the theme park and adjoining castle hotel are opening. The theme park is nestled in a valley between two bamboo mountains and attached to the 50,000sm castle hotel. Over the past three years our relationship with the client has grown and we have now signed contracts for six projects, three hotels, two masterplans and the theme park. The next step in development is the adjacent mixed-use town center that will add another dimension to the overall theme park experience.

Last week, CNN’s travel section included The Hello Kitty Theme Park in Anji county, East China’s Zhejiang province in its top 10 “Exciting Attractions Opening in 2015.”

The theme park held its soft opening January 1st, 2015. It will reportedly be the largest Hello Kitty theme park in Asia, even larger than Japan’s Hello Kitty Park Sanrio Puroland in Tokyo. The new Hello Kitty Theme Park is located approximately two hours west of Shanghai and 45 minutes from Hangzhou.VOA Associates designed the Hello Kitty Castle Themed Hotel, Boutique Mountain Resort Hotel, Hello Kitty Three Star Hotel and much of the theme park for the developer Zhejiang Yinrun Group.
