Salvatore Ferragamo on the Magnificent Mile

Chicago’s Salvatore Ferragamo flagship receives two-floor renovation, expansion and updated facade.

When one thinks Ferragamo, a heritage of luxury and craftsmanship of the Italian shoe designer Salvatore Ferragamo comes to mind. And quite appropriately, the renovated Ferragamo flagship store on the Magnificient Mile doesn’t disappoint. Luxurious design and materials sourced from Italy contribute to an exciting, beautiful and inspiring atmosphere.

VOA provided architectural services on the recently completed renovation for the flagship store located at 645 North Michigan Avenue in Chicago.  The newly branded exterior façade features Italian stone, reinforcing Ferragamo’s old-world identity at its new home on the Magnificent Mile.

The project included a demolition and reconstruction of the ground floor, and a 3,289sf second floor expansion. Renovations of the interior space are distinguished by luxurious Italian-made materials along with Italian lighting, stone, millwork, ornate ceiling details and a decadent staircase connecting the second floor and ground floor.

“It has been a rewarding experience to work closely with Ferragamo, to learn their retail culture and transform the site into a new Chicago flagship,” says Senior Vice President Kevin Curran, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP of VOA.
