Chicago Symphony Store

Reflecting Daniel Burnham’s historic Orchestra Hall in both style and grace, the new boutique for the Women’s Association of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra has become a “formal Parlor” for symphony events.  Located directly adjacent to Orchestra Hall, the boutique captures the elegance of the 1890’s with a flair for the 1990’s.

The Symphony Store achieves the look and feel of a space twice the size by architectural slight-of-hand.  A store length curved soffit embellished with ornament successful emulates the famous balconies of Symphony Hall.  The dark store ceiling and the dimmable lighting sets an ambiance similar to different moments of the symphony.

The store is really an extension of the symphony so we captured all the iconic architecture to mirror the drama and theatricality of that experience – the lights go down and the music comes up.
