NASA Headquarters

VOA was commissioned to design an extensive phased renovation of NASA’s 661,000 square-foot headquarters in Washington, DC. In addition to the stringent GSA and LEED requirements that were included in the project scope, VOA explored NASA’s inherent workplace culture to further understand how the agency functions today and how they expect to grow as they continue to occupy their current headquarters facility. Through this insight, VOA presented a building-wide planning strategy to help NASA achieve their short- and long-term goals, rendering a space that will allow them to operate flexibly and efficiently. Through the integration of sustainable design elements, the project received LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council.

Close coordination between the building landlord, owner, & tenant with the architectural, engineering, and construction team was directly responsible for the success of completing this large, complex renovation on time and on budget while the building was occupied.
