Navy Pier Market Place Shops

Navy Pier was developed as a 1,500,000sf mixed use urban waterfront entertainment venue on an historic Daniel Burnham planned pier originally built in 1914 but planned much earlier.  The retail and entertainment “Family Pavilion” is a 170,000sf retail, restaurant, and entertainment complex that has since its inception been the largest tourist attraction in the Midwest.  Anchored by a Food Court, Chicago’s Children Museum, an IMAX Theater and the Crystal Gardens Palm Court the numerous retail and restaurant venues designed by VOA have been financially successful from the opening in July of 1995 and many tenants have opened up second and third venues with varying retail concepts.  Navy Pier also boasts the “Pier Arcade” which caters to low overhead start-up entrepreneurs many of whom then have moved into the Family Pavilion as they became successful.
