WBC Craftsmanship Awards

Shipman & Goodwin recognized with 2015 craftsmanship award for Architectural Millwork

For Connecticut-based law firm Shipman & Goodwin LLP’s new flagship office in Washington, D.C., the VOA project team (John Jessen, Michael Considine, Leigh Fayfich, Stephanie Tyrpak, Jane Diercks and Marian Danowski) created a design that is modern and forward thinking, reflecting new trends in law firm workplace design at a reasonable cost. To solve one of the biggest challenges of modernizing an existing space consisting primarily of private offices, the team added large glass sidelights on exterior offices, full glass front interior offices, and an abundance of indirect lighting to create a light and open atmosphere. Premium video teleconferencing capabilities are incorporated into conferencing facilities. Extensive storage and file management systems are accommodated by high density filing and optical scanning.

For 58 years, the Washington Building Congress Craftsmanship Awards have honored “exceptional workmanship and individual effort” by craftsman in the D.C. area. We’re pleased to report that the Shipman & Goodwin workplace will be recognized with a WBC 2015 award for Architectural Millwork. The award will be presented at the Craftsmanship Awards Banquet on March 20, 2015 in Washington, D.C.
