Pershing Courts

Pershing Courts was one of the first steps in redeveloping the South State Street district formerly occupied by the Chicago Housing Authority’s Stateway Gardens public housing project.  The building contains 80 apartments, including 20 public housing replacement units and 60 market rate units. The affordable units are reserved for households earning 60 percent or less of local median income.  Pershing Courts is recognized in the Chicago re-development community as a model project for the Park Boulevard Master Plan being undertaken by a consortium of developers.

The detailing of the masonry and ornamental architectural precast trim recalls the early traditions of craftsmanship in affordable housing design in Chicago.
